Meet the Musicians . . .

Ivan Seng, piano

Ivan Seng received his masters degree from the UNC School of the Arts, where he studied piano with Clifton Matthews and composition with Michael Rothkopf. He received his undergraduate degree from Oberlin Conservatory, where he studied with Joseph Schwartz and Sanford Margolis.

Mr. Seng has performed some of the most challenging pieces in the piano repertoire. While still in high school, he performed the Brahms Piano Concerto No. 2 in Bb major with the UNCSA Orchestra. At 16, he gave a performance of Beethoven's notoriously difficult 'Hammerklavier' sonata.

In 2007, he was chosen to be part of the Asheville Rising Stars series, performing at the Diana Wortham Theatre in Asheville, NC as part of the Bravo Concert series.  His ensemble, the Feliks Trio, received first prize in the 2005 College Chamber Music Competition in Hendersonville. In 2005, he was also a finalist in the Beethoven Club Eleventh Biennial Beethoven Piano Sonata Competition in Memphis, Tennessee. He currently resides in Asheville, North Carolina
