We are happy to report that the Carolina Chamber Symphony Players’ (CCSP) inaugural Carolina Summer Music Festival can be judged an unqualified success! The music was outstanding as evidenced by the reviews of which selected reviews appear with this letter and with others at the festival website. Four of the eight concerts were complete sellouts. Ticket revenues exceeded our projections equaling almost 30% of the total Festival expenses with the rest covered by our reserves. That is a terrific first time effort! With the kickoff of the 2008-09 season a resounding success, the rest of the CCSP season’s concerts will be announced shortly. In addition, we are offering several Zevely House dinner concerts. Our annual (and very popular) Christmas concert will be held on December 12. Please join us for more outstanding music at these concerts. With the depletion of our reserves in support of the Festival in August, our fundraising drive this year is more important than ever. We have already received major grants from the Arts Council and the John Wesley and Anna Hodgin Hanes Foundation, and will be applying for additional grants from other sources. I am confident our grant requests will be favorably considered given the overwhelming success of the inaugural Festival. The total support required for the 2008-09 season and the second Festival is estimated to be the same as last year-- $35,000. Even with the anticipated grant support, we still need to raise at least $13,000. This is where you come in. We greatly need your help this year to ensure that the second season of the Festival exceeds the acknowledged success of the first. Please give generously.
